Biography
Khondkar Islam serves as a professor in the Department of Information Sciences and Technology within the College of Engineering and Computing at George Mason University. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he holds the positions of Associate Chair for Undergraduate Studies and Director of both the Virtual Academy and Cisco Academy at George Mason. With 30 years of experience in Information Technology and Telecommunications, his career spans roles in the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the Department of Homeland Security, as well as academic positions at George Mason, the University of Maryland College Park, and American University.
Islam is an esteemed expert in cybersecurity and networking, notably collaborating with Prometric. His contributions to the field include reviewing technical book chapters for renowned publishers such as Prentice Hall, McGraw-Hill, John Wiley & Sons, and Addison-Wesley, along with authoring several peer-reviewed articles. He earned his PhD and BS degrees from George Mason University and his MS from American University.
